About WriteEulogy

What this is
WriteEulogy does two things. It publishes guides on writing and delivering a eulogy, free to read and with no sign-up, and it runs a tool that turns a few memories into a personal draft you can edit and read aloud.
The guides are the larger part. Everything we know about the subject is on this site, in public, whether or not anybody ever pays us anything.
Who writes it
Valentyn Siedlovskyi — Founder, WriteEulogy
Valentyn Siedlovskyi runs WriteEulogy from Leiria in Portugal. He publishes the guides on this site and answers the support email himself.
You can write to me directly at support@writereulogy.com. If something on this site is wrong, badly judged, or upsetting in a way I did not intend, I would genuinely rather know.
Why it exists
Most people are asked to write a eulogy once or twice in a life, at the worst possible moment, with a few days’ notice and no idea how to begin. There is a great deal written about it online and most of it is thin — the same five tips, a couple of borrowed famous examples, and nothing at all about the parts people actually get stuck on.
So this site tries to cover what the others skip: what to do when your mind is blank, how to speak about someone the relationship with whom was complicated, what happens if you break down at the lectern, and what to say when a parent is burying a child.
About the example eulogies
Every sample eulogy on this site was written for the site. They are not real eulogies for real people, and no bereaved family’s words have been taken and reused.
They are deliberately varied — different lengths, different voices, different structures — because the failure mode of this genre is one template reworded forty times. How they are made, and the rules we hold ourselves to, is set out on the editorial policy page.
How the tool works, and what it costs
You answer a few questions about the person who died. The tool writes the opening of a eulogy in your voice, free, so you can judge it before deciding anything. If you want the whole thing and a printable PDF, that is a one-time $24. There is no subscription and no account.
Nothing you type is stored on our servers — not the name, not the memories, not the eulogy. The privacy page explains exactly what happens to it.
You can also just use the guides and write it yourself. That is a completely reasonable outcome and the site is built to support it.
Who runs it
WriteEulogy is operated by Valentyn Siedlovskyi, a sole proprietor (Atividade Individual) registered in Portugal, tax number PT322889960, at Rua da Fonte, 8, 4 Esq., 2410-261 Leiria, Portugal.
It is one person, not a company with a content department. That is worth stating plainly, because a lot of what ranks in this subject is published by businesses with something else to sell you.
This page is plain-language boilerplate, not legal advice. Please have it reviewed before you rely on it.
